What happens when you don't train
Without regular strength training, most adults start losing muscle in their 40s — and the older you get, the faster it happens.
That loss does not just show up on the scales. It shows up in how your body feels day to day. Weaker legs mean less steady balance. Weaker joints mean more aches. Things that used to be easy, getting up from a low chair, walking for long stretches, carrying your own bags, start to take more effort. And slowly, you find yourself relying on others for things you used to do without thinking.
Your bones follow a similar pattern. Without the regular demand of resistance training, they lose density over time. That matters most when a fall happens, and at this life stage, a fall is no longer just a bruise.
Then there is your metabolism. Muscle plays a big role in how your body handles food and blood sugar. Less of it means things like weight gain, low energy, and blood sugar issues become harder to manage.
None of this has to happen. It is simply what occurs without the right kind of exercise, and it can be turned around.
3-8%
Muscle lost per decade after 40, if you are not doing anything to stop it
1 in 3
Adults over 65 fall at least once a year resulting in fractures or immobility. Most falls are linked to weakness and poor balance that could have been prevented with proper training
30%
Lower risk of serious illness and early death in adults over 45 who train regularly with weights
Reversible
Muscle loss from years of inactivity is not permanent. You can rebuild it at any age with the right programme.
Together, we find something that works
01
Understanding you
On the first meeting, we seek to understand your issues and concerns. This way we have a better idea of what you want and how we can help to get you there. Only then can we start to plan the next steps.
02
Making a plan together
We work with you to decide on how the training programme should look: what it focuses on, how intense it will be, what are the goals and how the programme gets you there. Nothing starts until you feel satisfied with the plan.
03
Adjusting along the way
Bumps on the road are to be expected. Our trainers will continue to check in with you during your trainings to get an understanding of your thoughts about the programme. This way we can the necessary changes as soon as possible.
